ABOUT FIRST COAST GAMES:
First Coast Games, presented by VyStar Credit Union, is a corporate wellness program that encourages healthy lifestyles and fellowship among employees outside the office. More than 1,000 First Coast employees activated their lifestyles through participation in the 2010 First Coast Games.

There are three components to First Coast Games: wellness challenges, competitive challenges and recreational challenges. The wellness challenges include a 10-week “Wellness Throw-Down” competition where four chosen employees from each corporate team work closely with YMCA trainers, as well as a 10-week “Healthy Lifestyles” competition where every employee from each corporate team receives access to a 10-week, self-guided exercise and nutrition program from the Y. Both competitions were designed to improve overall health indicators such as weight, cholesterol, and Body Mass Index (BMI). At the Opening Ceremony, every participant completed a weigh-in, and prior to the Closing Ceremony, participants will weigh-in for the final time and overall improvement will be announced at the individual, company and First Coast level.

During the competitive challenges, teams competed in eight sporting events such as basketball and volleyball, as well as youthful pastimes such as flag football and dodgeball. Team points are awarded throughout the Games (and even Pep Squads receive points for their enthusiasm).

Winning teams will be recognized at the closing ceremony, including overall winner of the 2010 Corporate Cup, however, the overall goal of First Coast Games is not simply to win, but to try something new and begin reaping the benefits of a more active lifestyle both at home and at work, which builds a healthier, stronger community.
